[identity profile] shah-of-blah.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
Alright, today's the last day so I hope you've enjoyed these not-quite-daily pilots posts. :)

I put off writing this last post because I kept changing my mind about which episode to do.  It's hard to find a non-rage-y pilots episode in the last season, you know...but when I remembered this one, I facepalmed and wondered why I hadn't thought of it before.

Lee: We can't do this alone.
Kara: *smooches*
Lee: Kara...?
Kara: All we can count on is you and me.  Take a breath, Lee.  Feels good being alive, doesn't it?
Lee: What the hell was that?
Kara: Feeling right for the first time in weeks.

Maybe not the most swoon-worthy dialogue, but still pretty damn exciting when they've hardly had any screen time together all season.

The extended version of the scene is interesting too.

My favorite thing about it is the way Kara says "Screw destiny and a dead planet. I am still here."  Just the sentiment I wanted from my girl.

Kara and Lee both specialize in speaking uncomfortable truths in this episode (if you agree that they're truths, that is).

Exhibit B:

But more than that, this arc brings us the simple pleasures...

...of Kara saving Lee's hide:

...of Lee pranking her and the marines:

...and of this truly marvelous gif:

Now that I've slowed down all of our browsers, have some fic recs:

+please leave your light on by [livejournal.com profile] enots  (post-Blood on the Scales)
+Reckoning by [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_  (from pre-Oath promos)
+Where Soul Meets Body by [livejournal.com profile] flowrs4ophelia  (missing scene from The Oath)
+Time and a Word by [livejournal.com profile] stardust_20  (post-mutiny AU)
+All the Right Moves (aka Smutstravaganza) by [livejournal.com profile] taragel  and [livejournal.com profile] workerbee73  (if you don't already know what this is...better fix that)

As always, feel free to chime in with more recs.  I know I missed tons.

But for now, let's just forget anything else that may have gone wrong after the mutiny and enjoy this bit of vintage pilot(ician) badassery.

running behind the schedule today but i had to drop by before it's too late (again)
so my favorites from this part

maybe i went through all that hell so that i can be ready right now to fight and die with the only people that i ever cared about it's just great.

also, the not funny scene is one of the best.

and why not semper fraking fi... that makes me laugh every time.

This is really one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. Not only did we get such glorious pilots action but for the first time in a very long time, probably before the Pegasus, Bill, Lee and Kara (and Tigh) felt like a family again. Pulling together and fighting an enemy. And the enemy was actually interesting, because they were people we knew, not mysterious poorly written and developed cylons. ♥ ♥ ♥

(Aw, and thanks for reccing our little Smutstrav up there!)

I second (third?) the love for these episodes. Some of my very favorites of the series. Fun, exciting, adventurous, emotional, and gritty. Just all around BSG at its best. Yay.

These episodes were such a welcome arc in Season 4. Not just for pilot interaction which is always great but it was just nice having more nitty gritty action and saying frak destiny.
