Words of Wisdom?
May. 24th, 2011 01:39 pmHappy Tuesday, everyone. You all made me so happy yesterday, thanks for sharing all the wonderful things you love. Feel free to keep adding on to that post if you like -- there can never be too much joy! For today, I'm looking for words of wisdom (and/or mockery!) Here are your options:
1) THE SLIGHTLY COMPLICATED OPTION: There is a free website RIGHT HERE where you can use any picture saved on your computer to make a pilot-centric poster, motivational, ridiculous, sweet - whatever you want. Like so:
You don't have to "become a member" to do this; just choose the picture you want, fill in your text, and then once the free application generates your poster, you can save it to your computer and post it in the comments here just like you would any other image. If you don't have many pictures of pilots already, one good source for screencaps is www.frak-that.com. I can't wait to see what you come up with! :)
2) THE SIMPLE OPTION: If messing around with images is not your thing, how about this?: Go to THIS QUOTATION ANTHOLOGY SITE and use their search function (in the top right-hand corner). Type in any word that reminds you of pilots, and see if you find any quotations worth sharing. I typed in "tender," and found this:
When we honestly ask ourselves which people in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares. (Henri Nouwen, Out of Solitude)
And I realized that Kara and Lee had said all that, without words, right here:
I'm looking forward to more words of wisdom! :)

Date: 2011-05-24 09:53 pm (UTC)Hello, English major! I was reading Antigone the other day and thinking about Kara, and I loved two lines that her sister says to her:
"You are in love with the impossible." and...
"You are wrong in this.
But your friends are not wrong to love you."
