"You look totally beat." Kara said, eyeing Lee as he slumped in his favorite chair, lids half closed already.

He cracked one eye open wider. "Mmm. Well someone had to get up at the asscrack of dawn to hide the eggs, while other people indulged in their beauty sleep."

Kara grinned and plopped herself down in his lap, kicking her legs up over the arm of the chair, as Lee slid his arms around her. "I've got a good excuse." She peeled the wrapper off a huge solid chocolate bunny she'd pilfered from Nicky's easter basket when he wasn't looking (not like the kid needed more chocolate anyway) and bit off half an ear.

Lee raised an eyebrow. "Do you now?"

Kara nodded, chewing as she tilted the rabbit towards Lee. He leaned in and took a normal-sized bite then looked at her expectantly. "Yeah," she mumbled, mouth full. "You're better at handling eggs. I always break 'em."

It was true. His less-than-delicate wife had made Hera, Nicky and Liam all cry last year when she'd dropped the carton just minutes before the egg toss contest. Lee and Karl had had to do an impromptu puppet show just to keep the peace.

"Convenient excuse," Lee grumbled, but he also grinned and tugged Kara closer, so he could brush her chocolate-smeared lips with his own. The quick kiss turns longer, hotter, deeper, as it always does, until Kara pulls back.
She grins triumphantly and lifts the slightly mushy chocolate bunny again and chomps down on its entire head.

Lee shakes his, and says, "You're gonna get sick if you eat that whole thing."

"Nah," she answers, her mouth full again. The light from the window is dancing along the sweep of her jaw as she chews, illuminating her skin with a rosy glow, and Lee thinks the beauty sleep was worth it. But then, he always thinks she's beautiful. He's about to tell her, when she gets this look in her eyes that he can't read, and then she smiles and says, "I'm eating for two now."

The words take a minute to sink in, and Lee is poleaxed. His brain gropes for clarity. "What? You're--? Kara! Really?"

She nods and her smile is suddenly shy and soft, and so un-Kara-like that it's the proof Lee needs to believe. "Saw Cottle on Tuesday. Six weeks." A hand curves over her stomach and he reaches too, his fingers brushing hers tentatively. Kara slides her hand out and covers Lee's, holding it against her, and they both stare at their fingers laced together over her stomach for a long minute.

Lee breathes. Then he leans forward, his forehead brushing Kara's and he whispers, "Thank you."

She's smiling when she whispers back. "I promise not to break this one."
