yes, they did a great job...and remember the ambiguity...back when we didn't really know if Baltar was crazy or exactly who head!Six might be

I think I'm more comfortable with the interpretation that Head!Six was his sub-conscious/intuition telling him the clear facts.

Or, that he was a Cylon with a faulty commlink to the mother ship.
