I love this scene, and wish they hadn't truncated it for broadcast. I think it's interesting that Kara calls herself a ghost. And I love the way Lee looks at her when she gives her speech about this being what she was meant to do: fight alongside the only people she ever cared about.

I had never seen this scene before. (Note to self - check out ALL the clips on Dave's page.)

I totally agree this version is so much more meaningul than the aired one (which was already great). Loved his face and his words - he never thought of her as anything but Kara Thrace. He never doubted her even if she doubted herself. Love her face as well. She is so happy for the first time in such a looooong time. GO PILOTS!!!!

It's interesting that given the way she turned into emotional mush over Sam being shot a few scenes later, that when she says"the only people that I care about", she never mentions him, once. Lee's main goal is to get to his father and make sure he's safe, but Kara never once says, " I need to find Sam!".

For me it makes the whole, "I really am in love with Sam" thing even less plausible.

I had never seen that and now i'm even sadder cuz Lee totally believes in her...no matter what!

Awww! Watching this makes me miss pilots more! There was so much there between them till the end and it was all for nothing in the finale.

I do love that Kara says the only people she ever cared about and Lee is the only one in the room.

GO PILOTS!

I was so frustrated with the way she was so awesome in the rest of the two parter and then turned to mush over Sam getting shot when she apparently wasn't concerned about him during the rest of the mutiny arc. It seemed really OOC to me.

BTW, I'm new - I mostly lurk, but felt I needed to say something about this one :) Hi o/

Sorry, I put it really badly. I don't mean that she should have been standoffish - I just didn't expect her to fall to pieces, at least not until the danger had passed. That's what didn't feel consistent with the rest of her character.

Hey, don't worry about it, I'm trying to upgrade from lurker status myself:)

Hi,

For me, when I said she turned to mush, I meant it was a harder sell given that she doesn't seem to even think about him once before it happens. Granted it may not be intentional, adrenaline and all, but after the scene above it just seemed off. At the end of the day, he is still her husband and I think she would be completely heartless if she didn't have some reaction to him being hurt, and we all know that heartless she's not. And yeah, dead guy issues.

Hm. Now I'm starting to think I've misremembered the way the episode went - I only started watching BSG in February and pretty much mainlined it. I'm on my second run through now but still only on s1 (Oh man, the L/K-ness of s1 *sighs happily*), so it's entirely possible I chopped some bits of that episode out, in which case apologies to you & to the writers of that episode - for that bit. I also remember being pretty bummed out that she and Lee stopped fighting together during this ep and may have unfairly placed my disappointment on Sam (still a bit bitter about the way her storyline in s4.5 was resolved all together).

Sorry! :)

I never saw this scene in its entirety before, it's definitely more shippy this way! And I love that Kara says "screw destiny!" THAT'S MY GIRL!

Her sudden switch to devoted wife later in the series always bothered me, too, but her concern when he got shot made sense to me. She would focus on making sure he lived instead of running of with Lee. I wish the whole thing had gone down differently, but up until she's at his bedside with a whole new and unexpected depth of emotion, I was on board.

and HELLO!!! :D

Damn right you should! This is one of the big reasons I did it. It's good to have these scenes at your disposal when debating or talking pilots.

Also feel free to comment on there too! I put the ability to comment there, and not one person has taken advantage of it!

Know what I liked about the scene where she takes care of Sam after he's shot? Lee immediately goes to her side. She screams at him to go take care of his father. If she didn't he would have stayed, and Adama would have died most likely. She knows Lee would stay for her to help her.

Also it is in character for her to do that. It's well established how Zak's death upset her. How she on multiple occasions risked her life for Lee's. We saw how much Lee getting shot by her hand affected her. She tried to act like it didn't around him, but we as the audience know differently. When Sam was trapped on Caprica, she couldn't stop thinking about him. Though once she had him safe and sound, her eyes wandered back toward Lee. Until Sam got shot, they never really left.

If Lee had been the one shot, she would have done the same for him.

Oh, you did an amazing, amazing job there. And a very generous one, too. :)
ANd I do check it out. But I haven't seen all of them. Sometimes the videos are just too slow and for some reason I don't seem to know how to download them so I can watch them later. That is particularly depressing when it comes to the longer clips - JB's and KS's filmography. I haven't given up, though!
Thanks again. *bows*

That is weird because he was so enthusiastic when he hugged her right after she came back. And the brig scene, with the "I believe you" and everything. And his talk with Adama about whether or not it would make any difference if she or Zak were cylons. All those things happened very early in season 4 for him not to know where he stood regarding her. I understand him keeping apart for fear of getting sucked back in the mess that were their feelings for each other, but not because he doubted her in any way (other than romantically , that is). Maybe he gave the interview before they actually shot those episodes?

Yeah it is slow sometimes because it's a Russian site. None of the local hosting sites would let you do that. From putting that site together, there are times where that site is slow. Most of the time it's okay, but sometimes slow.

If I can find a better place to host those files I would. :)

So you would like the ability to DL those filmography clips for later viewing? Especially the bigger ones. That does make sense. I'll look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think if Lee had had a serious injury like that, then we would have seen Kara really lose it.

Don't ask me to explain pretty much anything about the cylons and their history.

LOL. The same here. But who cares about that, right?

Hi. Welcome!

Just to add my two cents. I'm with Taragel on this. I think her behaviour was more than understandable there, really. Although, I never bought the K/S romance, and I have no doubt her feelings for him don't compare to her feelings for Lee, she truly cared about him and she always stood by the ones she loved and cared for. And that would be true even if she wasn't married to him and if she didn't have her "dead guy" issues.I think they may have forced their hand later on with their final goodbye, though.

Well look at her reaction after she shot Lee. Kara was terrified.

Absolutely. ANd his injury then was nowhere near as serious as Sam's. (Though, the fact that she was the one who shot Lee also played a huge part in her reaction.)

Definitely the fact she shot him played into it. Kara blamed herself for what happened to Sam, as she said in the next episode. Kara is big on guilt. :)

Thanks for posting this one. I need to catch up on deleted pilots-friendly scenes. Kara is magnificent here and the K/L focus is awesome. :)
