Hi, shippers! Happy Saturday.

Today I wanna tackle another aspect of Kara and Lee's relationship. That's right: today it's all about the working relationship, aka buddy!cops. I love love LOVE buddy!cop pilots. For me, there's only one thing better than watching them kick ass together, and we've already discussed the other one (hee). They are beautiful as a team, and I know you all agree. So let's discuss, shall we?

They had quite a few great team moments. Colonial Day where they helped each other in that brawl. The good cop/bad cop interrogating of the one guy they captured.

On Kobol they worked great together, as you picutured in your icon hehe.

Also they worked together well in Final Cut, though in a much more subdued way. Here it wasn't fighting cylons. More along the lines of dealing with day to day life and dealing with reporters.

Of course who can forget Apollo and Starbuck back together kicking ass during the mutiny? This particular time meant alot. Starbuck and Apollo hadn't been Starbuck and Apollo for awhile. Lee was a politician, and Kara was kind of on autopilot and certainly not the same pilot we all knew and love.

Yet when the chips were done and the ship needed them once again they saved the day as only Starbuck and Apollo could. So many great moments. I loved how Lee threw the grenade but never pulled the pin, sending everyone including Kara ducking for cover. Their banter was perfect.

Starbuck: Not funny.
Apollo: Would have been, if you thought of it.
Starbuck: No, not funny.

Soooo multi-talented. Did you icons for Rules 1-3? Rule 5? Or did you go straight to #4?

Final Cut really is one that grew on me. I was so-so about it when it aired but you pick up on little things every rewatch.

Love all the ones you mentioned [livejournal.com profile] ddt73 especially the teamwork in Final Cut. It's great to see how well they work together with dealing with the pilots and not just killing cylons.

I'd also add the whole Pegasus arc and how Lee fully prepared for Kara to go on her op with the Blackbird. And who could forget texting!pilots? Hehe.

I don't know if this counts as teamwork but fingerpainting pilots is just so darn cute. Her teasing him about being the worst CAG ever but still helps him prep for the 1000th landing.

I really wish we had gotten to see them in the academy. Oh well. Fans could probably do it better than RDM anyway.

I just rewatched the Peggy arc today and I LOVE the scene of them sitting side by side in Stinger's briefing. Of course they are. Where else would they be except next to each other. And how awesome is it that little leland comes up with the plan for the Blackbird. Nothing like Cain to bring out the mutineer in Lee. So fantastic!

Buddy!cops FTW. And I've got an icon(I'm icon-challenged so this is no small thing). I love Kara and Lee in sync. They're buddy cops in sync, they fly in sync, they make love in sync. And the last gif above is so awesome as Kara sashays out of the head after head banging that stunt man who is actually the guy about to shoot Lee early.

Plus Lee is a detective and Kara is a cop in my fav fic over at ff.net. It's
"In the End" by Jayblue00. Very hawt. I've been drinkypoo-ing. Can you tell? Hey' it's Sat. Par-tay.

I love watching the two of them working together. All the moments everyone has mentioned already are great. And I would also add the more tense and difficult moments, where they challenge each other and sometimes anger each other, but nonetheless help each other by asking the right questions and caring enough to push when the other one needs pushing. Or the moments when they overcome their own personal angst to focus on the unshakable respect they have for each other's abilities.

I like:

- the scenes in 33 where Kara pushes Lee to take on the authority of his position as CAG and not to hesitate in giving orders and being tough, even with her. And I love seeing how she responds to his terrible, necessary order regarding the Olympic Carrier at the end of that episode. It is such a complex relationship they portray there in just a few minutes of shared screentime. I love the solidarity amidst disagreement that they show to each other.

- the scene in Act of Contrition where Lee pushes Kara to admit that her feelings about Zak are messing with her professional judgment. It was true, and he was the only person in a position to know it, and he made the right call and forced her to correct a bad decision and give those nuggets another chance. We got Hot Dog and Kat out of that - it was a good call.

- the scene in "Hand of God" where Kara dismisses the battle plan Lee and Tigh have come up with. I love how Tigh instantly takes offense and starts to attack her credentials and experience, but Lee just says, "Okay. What would you do differently?" And then she gives them a better plan. And I love the end of that episode where she in turn recognizes what an incredible job Lee did leading the bombing run. Kara Thrace actually said to another pilot, "I couldn't have done it better myself." That's pretty incredible.

- the scene in Kobol's Last Gleaming where Kara explains her plan about planting a nuke on the Raider. Lee has been acting quite unprofessional in their previous scenes and even in this one, and yet there's this moment where he struggles with himself and sort of lets out a breath and just says, "At ease. So what's the plan?" I like that even though he's furious he still recognizes that he needs to listen to her ideas because they're probably good ones. He does the same thing in "The Captain's Hand," when they are having a terrible fight about the aftermath of the shooting, and then in the midst of all the hurtfulness he listens to her theory about the missing pilots, agrees with it, backs her up when his father asks for his opinion, and ignores Garner's orders by restoring her to duty on his own authority and sending her down to get a Viper because she's "the best pilot we've got." All this *before* they really reconcile on a personal level.

- the scene in "Flight of the Phoenix" where they work together to shoot out the window. Breathless. Entwined. Enough said :)

They are just great together, and I think it's wonderful how much they clearly respect each other as soldiers and leaders.

This combined with their ridiculous UST is probably my favorite thing about the pilots! :) Makes me so happy to see them work together, no matter what is going on between them personally.

You all have already mentioned all the awesome scenes and I totally agree with all of them.

That said, the grenade scene is my favorite of this kind and is one of my top 5 Starbuck/Apollo scenes ever. :)

I also really liked it when they teamed up in Colonial Day playing the role of secret service agents and good cop/bad cop.
