Thanks for the fantastic participation yesterday on the nominations for the Fandom Oscars! It’s clear from the list on nominations that fandom is alive and well. (Writers... you should be composing your acceptance speeches!)
Today’s DPP again has two activities for you. First, as official members of the Kara / Lee Academy you are required to cast your ballots for the best fiction from the last year. You can find the anonymous poll here. (In this case, you can vote only once for each category. In the situation of a tie, I'll be calling a tie-breaker vote the morning of October 16th.)

Secondly, you’ll be seeing how well you know the current authors in fandom. In the last month, I’ve lured a number of authors into submitting a brand new snippet of fiction for this activity. I’ve broken them into categories, and I’m posting them in groups inspired by our Oscar week theme. Read through these lovelies, and then discuss and argue amongst yourself... Who are these authors? How can you tell? To use a triad term, what are the “tells” are there that let you identify the authors? (You wouldn’t believe how I struggled to get rid of my “frakking elipses”... which are MY tell extraordinaire!)

Date: 2010-10-12 07:35 am (UTC)Guessing the authors was fun!! It's crazy how sure I am of some of them while others I have minimal faith in my answers. (Although it was reassuring to find that Tara and I guessed the same way on the last three.) I can't wait to see who is revealed!!
(Also, sorry again, bb, that I didn't get the time/guts to send ya anything. I think I would have been an easy one to guess though...not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I'd deffo have had to control my ellipses. (We can be ellipses braintwins.) I'm so used to journal writing these days that my real writing has gotten sloppy. Oh well.)
It looks like I will be doing a lot of reading this week in preparation for informed voting. ;) Yay fic!!
