DPP - Talk to me!

Hey everyone!

First off, thank you all SO much for participating in the DPP this week. I had a lot of fun hosting it and I'm glad to see you did too :-)

This is going to be my final post for the week (*sniff*). It shall be known as "The Weekend Post."

Since it IS the weekend, we're going to have a free for all. Talk about anything you want, and if you're up for it, answer me this:

Question: We've talked about so many things on the DPP ... what is it that YOU want to talk about? What would you like the hosts to highlight? Fic recs your thing? Icons? Games? Help our future hosts out to make sure our comm stays vibrant and active.

My answer:

As a newbie, I always, always love fic rec posts. Even though I feel like I've read thousands of fics for this fandom and particularly for this ship, every time we have a fic rec post, I find something new to read.

I also love the silly stuff. It's great when we get creative and do Comment!Fics or go completely off on tangents and do fun internets stuff, etc.

My answer to the question: I looove the silly stuff. I like discussions too. Basically just bring a lot of variety to the table with every week and I'm a happy shipper *shrug*

Hmmm...I like talking about fic a lot, but...having read all of it, I prefer focused recs/discussion? Like, fic about a certain aspect of their relationship, or about a certain time period, or what have you. I like meta too. And I really like games, even though I don't always join in. :)

I like discussing the characters and storylines. When it comes to fic recs, I feel like I'm rarely surprised by a new Kara/Lee one at this point, but I would really enjoy being directed to more recs for great stories focusing on each of them individually. Part of the reason I love this ship so much is because I think they are each such incredible and wonderful characters in their own right. I feel like there are probably a lot of Lee stories that I missed out on, and I *know* there are a ton of Kara ones I've never seen. I don't personally enjoy reading about either of them in romantic relationships with characters other than each other, but besides that I'd love to know more about the great character stories out there.

I also really love reading episode reviews and analyses. I'd love to hear recommendations for LJs, bloggers, or websites that have great post-episode comments/reviews from back in the day. I missed a lot of those great reactions and speculations because I came to the fandom after the show was off the air.

I'm kinda over the fic recs posts myself. There are so many recced here in previous discussions and, at least all the way through to season two finale, Heather posted episode-centric fic recs as we rewatched. With a little hunting, they're very easy to find. (Plus people's memories and delicious accounts, etc.)

I'd like to see more visuals accompanying the thinky thoughts to be honest. We do a lot of discussion, but seldom do the discussion points also come with pictures or gifs or something pretty to look at. Even if it's just one image, it kind of brightens up the comm I think.

Just a quick note to say think you for the AMAZING job, Naz. You really pulled together a fabulous week of fun, pretty and smart. (Though i skipped out on the smart day. Sorry.)
