Good morning!

Today's topic is PILOTS: THE MUSICAL!

If someone was putting together a musical based on the epic lives, deaths, and lives of Kara and Lee, what songs would have to be in it and who would sing them? And when? (Bonus if the songs are from actual musicals, but they don't have to be!)

I think the song "I'd Give It All For You" from Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World is perfect for pilots right after Kara comes back from the dead. Lee's verse is more about her marrying Sam, while Kara's is about not remembering being dead, but either way it's perfect for them.

Have you seen rachelindeed's brilliant Kara & Lee: The Musical (http://rachelindeed.livejournal.com/6624.html)? I take every opportunity I can to pimp it because it's one of my favorite fanworks ever. :D

I wrote a K/L fic once that was set right before the final Daybreak battles. The Last Night of the World from Miss Saigon came into my head and the lyrics were oddly fitting for them surprisingly.

I could see Frank Wildhorn writing a BSG musical. LOL. He'd love the angst between K/L.

<3 <3 Thank you for the rec, you are awesome!!

Also, I really love your Last Night of the World story, it's one of my favorite romantic vignettes. "I owe you a few" gets me every time.

Aw! Thanks bb. That's one of my most sentimental pilots fics I think. So nostalgic. Sigh.

I would love a full-on Les Mis-style tearjerker musical for pilots (because they can certainly make everyone shed enough tears)

but even if it doesn't quite fit the style of a movie musical, I think Slide Away by Oasis would be THE perfect love song for their night on New Caprica in UB

Pulling up my KaraLee play list here...

"Heaven Help My Heart" from Chess, Kara. Kind of sappy for her but there are several lines that really ring true for her. What I'm feeling now has no easy explanation. Reason plays no part

"You and I (reprise)" from Chess, duet. Mostly for the line We go on pretending stories like ours have happy endings.

"Let's Play a Love Scene" from Fame. We always seem to be, sister and brotherly. It's such a lovely way to be. And I want to say what it means to me, how I could ever be the same without you

"Written in the Stars" from Aida. Is this some God's experiment in which we have no say. In which we're given paradise but only for a day?

"Unsettled Scores" from Whistle Down the Wind, ensemble. On of these days I will make an epic vid to this song, but here are the Pilot lines.
The lonely girls who yearn to love and learn to kiss and dance.

The soldier with the smell of war That never fades away.

The desperate boy who sleeps alone whoever's in his bed.

An American Viper flyer on a steep incline.

Martin Guerre is a kind of obscure musical, but I found a rendition of "Don't" on youtube. I think it's a piloty song; in my little musical script I put it as the song between the two of them as they struggled with their feelings the first night they met.

I believe you! I never saw it, just listened to the CD. Overall not that great, but as you say it has a few worthwhile songs :)
