DPP: The Hair Report

Yesterday, one of the questions I asked Shipper Nation at large was what their favourite pilothair was, and since I'm really into trivia (hair being important trivia) today is going to be the day for the Hair!Report!

     where it all began     

I'm going to post some of my fave pilots hair looks, each in a separate comment to this entry, and I'd like everyone to join in with posting their faves too, along with the reasons why you feel that hair is so awesome :)

Nothing is too trivial, appreciation/nitpicking is very much encouraged, and as always, feel free to bring up pic/gif evidence (this is a great source), since this post could always do with more of the pretty :) (and of course, if anyone feels like writing a fic involving hair, please go right ahead)

Oh yes indeed. The Hair Reports are a time-honored tradition. I remember doing them live after each ep of season 4. **sniff**

Where Kara's hair has been subjected to an Important Haircut and restored to almost Season 1 levels of short

haha, Season 4 pilothair was quite something, I think everyone - not just pilots- just decided to screw it and grow their hair out that season :) I mean, even Laura got a new hairdo, even if it was plausible via cancerwig.

As I mentioned briefly yesterday, a big part of the reason I liked Kara almost from the beginning was, in fact, her hair. I find for the most part that women's hair on TV is inappropriate for their lifestyle and way over-styled. Kara's hair was so perfect for her character, totally utilitarian, chopped and pretty frak you. Starbuck had been pretty hyped for me. I'm not sure I would have really connected with her if it hadn't been for Kara's hair and Katee's hips. ;)

speaking of 'inappropriate for their lifestyle', Laura's perfect shampoo-model waves practically jumped out at me on the rewatch :) but Kara's hair is always remarkably no-fuss, no matter what length it's at. I love to rag on her miniseries hair, but it's really quite appropriate for her character and it has a certain charm of its own.

Laura's perfectly cut, colored and blow dried hair is one of the best examples of my TV hair pet peeve. Some of Kara's S4 hair comes the closest to falling into that catagory, but in general Kara's hair is really spot on.

Season 2 in general just has amazing hair for pilots. Not too stick-up-the-ass short for Lee, and of course the ponytail for Kara :)

At least they gave Laura that wig in Season 4, finally a nod to the effects of being treated for cancer.

Kara's flatironed hair of I Am On A Mission didn't bother me nearly as much, since the texture seemed to more or less match what her hair looked like when it was short - she didn't suddenly go from wavy to straight or anything.

I'm sorry....I'm supposed to be looking at their hair, right?? O_O.....ahem...right, back to hair. I agree....fantastic hair for both of them. Love Lee's short but not mini short hair and Kara's ponytail is made of win! Plus there is kissing....which makes everything AWESOME.
