DPP: Other Roles

As the years go by and BSG gets further and further into the past, Katee and Jamie take on new roles.
Recently, Jamie finished his several series stint on Law & Order|UK, did some post-apocalyptic sci-fi for the BBC, wrapped a guest spot on Body of Proof that's finally airing now (tonight. 10pm. Check your local listings), and has landed a starring role in TNT's Chelsea General about the experiences of Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
Meanwhile, Katee took on a role on 24, shot a couple of yet unreleased sci-fi/horror movies, is in A&E's soon to air pilot Longmire, and is in Montreal now shooting the new Riddick movie.

What roles other than Kara and Lee do you love these actors in? Are there projects you're looking forward to for either of them? Do you watch any of their other work at all or is pilots it for you? Feel free to post screencaps, meta, and even crossover fic!

I've read the first Longmire book and am currently reading the second. I think Katee will do a great job as Vic!

I watch em all! I'll follow them both wherever they go, but oh boy am I excited for Longmire. Not so much for the show's premise (I'm not a big Western fan) but because the role is both perfect for Katee and also the most reminiscent of Starbuck--except without all the soul-crushing angst that BSG weighed her down with in the later seasons. I can't wait to see her sassily telling men to take their pants off while she dangles some handcuffs at them (er, all professional of course. ;)



Jamie's new TNT show where he plays a sexy, slightly cocky, star surgeon also could be great (if it gets picked up). Again, not a fan of medical dramas so much, but it lets him be charming and emotive (at least the pilot script did) and hopefully shirtless. ;)

I AM WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY excited to see Katee in Riddick. Like whoa. I haven't been turned on by any of her other post-BSG roles, but I love action movies and I loved loved loved Pitch Black, so I am crossing my fingers that she is the kick-ass hero I want her to be. She's been working out and seems to be getting super buff for the role, so wooooohoooo, hot and sexy and badass KATEE!! *swoon* I am super stoked.

Also, Longmire! I have a thing for gritty westerns and I can't wait to see the Philadelphia cop Vic transported to the West. Yes! Katee said it's the role that most feels like herself, so that will be nothing shy of fantastic (if they don't cut her awesomeness down for timing and stupid crap like plot, etc.!)

Jamie's guest appearances have been fun, and I am always FLAILING beyond belief when he's going to be new on my screen, but dude, he needs to do something where he gets to be SERIOUS AND EMO. His new show, Chelsea General sounds like JAMIE-SURFER-DUDE and I want something akin to Leeeeeeeeeeeee. #PLEASE

He's cute and sexy on Body of Proof (and fuck knows I swoon nearly to vapors when he's on the screen), but I WANT DEPTH. COME ON TV EXECS. BRING THE GOODS.

Since I just started watching BSG last year and have finished it yet I can't really answer the "after" portion ;)

That being said, I do have my yearly Hornblower rewatch. And one can never have to much of The Scarlet Pimpernel (poor Tony and his sweet little stammer) or Band of Brothers.






And also love the internet forever for casting him as Captain James in "Inspector Spacetime/Peacemist"

It's tragic how hard I fall for characters and how rarely I fall for their RL counterpoints. I don't in any way DISLIKE them, but it's not the same as my squee over their characters. I'll check out their stuff on YouTube or wherever I can catch the clips, but it never compares to my first love of them. RL leaves them all fallible and whatnot and my stalker-ism of their career paths becomes more of a nostalgia-laced trip down memory lane than a legit 'I must know all the things' obsession. It's really not their fault. I mean, what real person can compete with such larger than life heroic types with perfect dialogue and wardrobe/make-up just standing by? It's sad. :P

I really liked Katee on Bionic Woman, she pretty much stole the show there. And even though 24 didn't make the best use of her talents, I enjoyed her badassery at the end (and also getting to see Freddie Prinze Jr. on a screen once more, it felt like 90s redux). And I am looking forward to Longmire and Sexy Evil Genius, too.

I've seen more of Jamie's work than Katee's and I was actually shocked when I first started watching BSG, that I'd failed to remember Archie from Hornblower and his role in Band of Brothers.

Post-BSG, I've loved him as a guest star villain on Dollhouse as well as when he played Matty on Law & Order: UK - I was actually surprised by how much I liked that show, and him in it, since I am really NOT a procedurals fan! Oh, and Carpathia was also interesting, I liked seeing him as the crazy guy.

awwwwwwww, baby!Jamie is so adorable. Though there was a gap of several years between my watching Hornblower and beginning BSG, and I completely failed to recognise him with different hair, costume and accent. I kicked myself so hard for that one :)

It wasn't until I saw one of the "Secretly British" commercials that I thought I recognized him, and even then I had to look at IMDb before I realized that he was from Hornblower/TSP/a ton of other costume dramas.

I know what you mean bb, I don't know if anything they do afterwards will ever live up to BSG, but like I said below, I was surprised by how much I liked Jamie on Law & Order. Though that might have had something to do with the fact that Freema "Martha Jones" Agyeman was in it too :)

Yeah, I've heard good things about him on Law & Order but never seen it. Perhaps I should give it a chance. He is QUITE pretty to watch at the very least. ;)

For reals. Sometimes I like to know as little about them irl as possible so it doesn't sway my opinion of their character, but then I remember that I have no willpower for that kind of thing and Google till my fingers fall off anyways. :P

I completely agree that she stole the show in   Bionic Woman. I saw that before I watched BSG and she was the only reason I watched Bionic Woman.

I am glad to see someone as excited as me about Riddick. I was literally jumping up and down when I read that Katee was going to be in the next Riddick movie. I adore Katee but I love love love Vin Diesel (sorry Jamie) and getting to see two of my favorite actors in the same movie is going to be so amazing! Plus Katee is going to play a tough female and there are never enough roles like that out there. I really can't wait to see it.

I only started watching BSG AFTER Katee had blown me away in Bionic, so yeah. And I agree about 24. When she had that moment when she turned for good and was on the phone in that conference room? Soooo good.

Sexy Evil Genius looks like SO MUCH FUN. And she looks gorgeous in the stills from it. Spamming you now!

I'm super excited for Riddick too. Not because I love the series so much or anything, though I do like Diesel, but because Katee being a hot badass on a huge movie screen? YES. And Vin is so committed to this movie getting made that I know for sure it will get a wide release, etc. etc. (He seems like a completely awesome guy too I have to say from following him on Twitter and Facebook. Insanely great to fans.)

I felt for a long time that other Jamie roles weren't worth the effort, but I ended up watching them and really just falling for Jamie nearly as hard as I have for Lee. I can't say it will be the same for you, but starting with his episode on Dollhouse was a great start for me. He's a British bad guy and is totally and desperately swoonworthy. :)

I actually did watch Dollhouse. But it was before BSG and I had no idea who JB was at that point. I should go back and see if it makes a difference this time around. Hmmm.
