DPP: All AU, All the time

Good day to you all, today's post is a little bit on the late side because public transort in England is enough to frequently make you want to kill yourself. But on to happier things :)

Yesterday we talked about our musical inspiration when it comes to writing pilots fic, I have started compiling a new playlist of all your favourites, they were most excellent.

Today's show is slightly different.

I have a slight problem, I suspect that some of you share it, in that I SEE PILOTS EVERYWHERE! So today I thought we could talk about the other films/tv shows/books that you all think are PERFECT for Pilots.What do you want to see as a crossover? What stories would be made better with Kara and Lee as the main characters?

Along with the strange melding of the two zany genius brains of

nazkey that takes the form of First Impressions which is a Pride and Prejudice crossover that doesn't have any cylons in it, but is wacky and wonderful anyway.

And then there's a whole host of stuff that

kag523 graciously said I could mine from her stores for your inspiration, there are no accompanying fics for these, but you could always fix that if you liked ;)

Hopefully that's enough to keep everyone going! I have to go have a shower but I shall be back with some thoughts of my own, and possibly some incredibly cracked out manips. Have fun!

Actually, queenofthorns did write a K/L/Casablanca story: Of All the Gin Joints, part 1 (http://no-takebacks.livejournal.com/119634.html?thread=7049810#t7049810) and part 2 (http://no-takebacks.livejournal.com/119634.html?thread=7050066#t7050066). And there are a few Star Wars ones banging about.

My favorite crossover is rayruz's Fight the Break of Dawn (http://tulipfic.livejournal.com/63004.html), which puts Kara and Lee and Zak in the world of The Hunger Games.

While washing up today (why is it I have all my random Pilots thoughts while washing up?) it suddenly occurred to me that Pilots are sort of like Les Mis. I could see Lee as Marius, with Kara as Eponine (she dies knowing that he doesn't love her like that after their Under The Wing talk) and Dee would be sort of like Cosette. Not really sure where anyone else would fit in there at the moment -- I finished my washing up before the thoughts could get any more formed.

I love all of these! Crossovers are so fun and the manips really bring them to life. First Impressions does have cylons in it, although it is not explcitly stated. There are all sorts of strange goings on and two of the "sisters" are described as almost identical. A clue? You decide. ;)

Check this icon Amaliak made me. We had the same thoughts. ;) I filked some of it too in an old post: http://taragel.livejournal.com/98126.html. Sadly LJ ate the bottom of that post, including my last five favorite pilots moments which makes me want to cry a little. LJ sucks sometimes.

I am DYING of laughter at all of those manips! OMG, I can't decide which is my favorite! I think Lee's hair in the Scott Pilgrim one just made me pee my pants a little...

I recently rewatched Some Kind of Wonderful (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094006/) and Watts was making me think of Starbuck so much. I could see them in a High School AU and she would give him a kissing lesson. And the idea of Adama screaming "Where's the frakking money, Lee?" just about killed me dead.

I feel like In Plain Sight (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0935095/) is a good pilot match. You have the snarky blonde bad ass who is great at her job (even though she doesn't follow all the rules) but lousy at her private life. You have her slightly effeminate but ruggedly handsome partner who knows how to handle her like no one else. She's even engaged to a nice looking ball player who sort of worships her but sort of doesn't really understand her - at least not to the extend her best friend/partner does.

On Twitter the other day, smack talk about the Red Sox-Phillies game (being pitched by Lee/Beckett) started talk of a crossover with Castle. Not that I've been thinking about it. 'Cuz I really haven't.

I haven't thought about murders in the fleet, in the style of a certain surviving famous author. Or that Starbuck and Apollo would be sent to Cloud 9 to meet said author and his former-Caprican-homicide-Detective/not-girlfriend.

I haven't thought about how Starbuck wouldn't like Castle, maybe until they played some Triad. And that Lee and Beckett might commiserate over their "partners" being loose cannons and sloppy with procedure.

And I certainly haven't thought about anyone getting jealous about anyone else getting attention from the opposite sex, 'cuz that works in too many directions.

I stand happily corrected :) And reminded of how much I just need to READ HUNGER GAMES ALREADY!

Okay - I've decided since First Impressions is appearing up top that I'm ~~totally taking over today's post~~ using this post for leverage, and I'm just going to take a second to *cough* point out...

So yeah, maybe if you all would like Naz to do that, *smirks* you might want to... remind her of that today.

all of those are just awesome - well, on the Fight Club thing is just a guess because i didn't managed to read it until now but the premise sounds sort of perfect and you do have to take the author into account when you guess on stuff like this.

and yes, i see pilots in strange places but nothing really relevant comes to mind right now. that if don't consider the whole JAG thing. and maybe even Dark Angel.

This is a really cool idea, I had never considered that before, although yeah, I don't know how you'd fit the other characters in. GET BACK TO THAT SINK WOMAN!!!

Heee! Oh that'd be awesome. I can hear Starbuck annoyed that Beckett plans to chase bad guys around in heels and hairspray but in the end Kate and Kara save the day and bond over how amazing they both are. Then they go to the bar and discuss Michael Trucco.

i loved that discussion. i was too cut up in work to be able to contribute to it but it was great. and yes, i think that Kate and Lee would get along quite nicely. and after some ambrosia and triad Kara and Rick also. BUT what are we going to do with Sam and Tom Demming?

I never watched In Plain Sight, but I can definitely see Katee in a Mary McCormack role, and that description does sound very piloty :)

oooh...Dark Angel...I like this. Although I feel like Max is kind of too well adjusted for Kara, and Logan is maybe a bit too suave. I can totally see her on a bike breaking into compounds and generally kicking ass, and I can definitely see him as Eyes Only (and by the way, what eyes!). This is interesting...

i was thinking more into the lines of Max and Alec but you left me thinking with the whole eyes thing.

Heh, see I feel like SKOW is TOO pilots. Kara and Watts are basically the same person (which is why I love them both so much).

There's a really good Dark Angel/BSG crossover I've read (and I've never really even watched Dark Angel, but Kara, Lee and Helo as the same thing as what Jessica Alba is--replicant?--really works. Not sure I want to take on something as long as Ice!Pilots again, but been kicking around the idea of a While You Were Sleeping crossover. Kara as the subway worker (probably not a token taker, something a bit more interesting) with no family who saves poor Zak from death, but while he's in a coma she falls for the wacky family (yes they'd have to change a bit) and then in comes older brother Lee, who has daddy/job issues... and is very very skeptical of her until she wins him over... ;)
