Argh...I am late...but well, that's not really a new thing.

Anyhow, Happy Belated Birthday, Katee!! I hope it was a great one for her.

I'm currently at work, so I can't look for picspam. (Not that I really need to do so since you all have done a lovely job.) Anyhow, instead of picspam, I will just tell my own "how I grew to love Katee" story.

I loved her Kara from day 1 but I was ambivalent about Katee. I think partially b/c she had done several interviews that were too K/S supportive for my taste right around the time I was seriously entering K/L fandom (hiatus btwn S4 and S4.5). It frustrated me and it kept me from appreciating the pretty, intelligent, intuitive actor behind our Kara. I guess also I felt such an immediate, intrinsic connection with Kara that I took the acting for granted.

I have shipperdom to thank for helping me realize how awesome Katee truly is...as an actress and an individual. Through K/L fandom, I've gone back and rewatched, read scripts, etc and realized how much Katee created out of the Kara that was on the page. Kara/Starbuck is truly a great work of art and we have Katee to thank for that.

It also helps to have a better understanding of Katee's friendship with Trucco and her desire to have Kara's end make some sort of sense...I know Katee said she wanted so badly for Kara to be at peace...and if Katee was able to create that in her own head for Kara by slipping a line to Sam into the finale, then more power to her.

I still believe in crazyspacemagic and pilots overcoming everything including poofing, but I can understand Katee wanting something more canon after all the time and love she put into creating Kara. After all, I think each of us very much wish our pilots a sense of peace. We just differ in the fact that we see it as inevitable and necessary for K/L to be together in order for them to gain that peace. However, I think Katee did the best with what she had given RDM's desire to F#@K the viewers over.

Thanks especially go to Tara, who mystified me at first with the depth of her Katee love. That sparked my curiosity though and I started examining the issue in more detail. As I did so, I realized how amazing Katee is as an actress and as a really incredibly hot and intelligent person. So, from a skeptic that has been converted, thanks Katee for bringing us Kara, and I hope you had a lovely birthday. You deserve it. (And btw, tell ABC to hurry up and pick up your pilot...despite the cheesy name, we need you back on our televisions...the crappy writing that is 24 just doesn't cut it.) <3 <3 <3
