Daily Pilots Post: All about the Hair

Hi shippers,

Thanks for making this week such a blast to host. Starting tomorrow, the fabulous

eugis will take over. :)

And now, onto today's topic.

workerbee73's "hair report" posts and the fact that I'm gonna leave soon to get my own hair done (with S3 Kara as my inspiration, I think--it's ~~summer~~ spring in Florida and I hate having my hair up all the time, so it needs to be short!) got me wondering--what're your favorite hairstyles for Kara and Lee? Feel free to use lots and lots of pictorial evidence!

(This is my favorite length for Kara. It says "Starbuck" to me. And here, I think it looks especially great all slicked back.)

I love Kara's S2 ponytail. Maybe I feel cat-like and just want to bat at it but I'm a sucker for ponytails. I can't wait until mine's long enough to do that again.

As a newbie, when reaching the third season last weekend or so, I had to text the friend who lent me her boxset, and who also has no interest in hairstyles whatsoever, and let her know how displeased I was with the hair explosion in the New Caprica eps. She not only sympathised, but promised me it would get better - and the show found some very good ways of making it better, too. *nods in approval at hair cut by knife*

You know, the second half of season 3 has some amazing hair. As does 4.

I'm totally with you on the hair (for both of them, but especially Kara). While she looks great with hair of all lengths, pretty much, I think the short look is the most Kara.

But a discussion of Kara's hair would not be complete without

Let's talk about what is important: HAIR. No, we're not all about the shallow. lol

I love Kara's hair in season 2. I love that she let it grow out a bit. And Lee's is at his best on Home. :)

And for Lee/Apollo, I liked the middle ground. Not the fluffy politician 'do, or the close-cropped, nothing to hold on to (ahem- sorry) crew cut. I couldn't find exactly the right fixing of it and don't have time to episode wander for it, but basically this (*sigh* His eyes in this one are just amazing.):

HAIR, YAY!!! Well, I completely agree with you on this topic. My favorite Kara's hair is her S3 short hair... I love that look, it is quintessentially Starbuck to me :) I think my fave style of hers is the one in UB, with the bangs, but I also love her looks in the image you have posted, slicked back --as in Maelstrom or EoJ.

UB pilots. Guh.

Also, I am a fan of her ponytail (especially the messy one in "Home", she looks so young and so cute, I love it). Oh, and I am a fan of Kara's ponytail (and general looks) in "Razor". She looks all badass and gorgeous there.

As for Lee... Well, my favorite of his looks is the one in "Home": pilot haircut + scruff (I find scruffy guys incredibly sexy ;)). And I love his short hair in S3, too.

I love Kara's hair in almost every incarnation except the short spiked mini hair. But these are some of my faves:

can't find a good pic but the long ponytail in Daybreak 2 was nice as well.

Lee's hair didn't change nearly as much. (Or uh, let's just say, the few times it did change drastically were not as flattering.)But I like it in all the promo shots pretty much.

Plz say that JB showed up to this Q&A inebriated. Peach shirt? Unbuttoned low? Shameless self-stroking of chest hair? Hair looking moussed? Wait, isn't he wearing some gnarly green slip-on thongs on his feet in this series? He certainly can be the UnMetroSexual when he wants. And that hair is so pouffed out that it looks like Snooki from Jersey Shore styled his hair. *pats down hair poof*

Hey waitta minute - maybe this is where RDM feel in love with the *poof* - Ron saw Jamie's pouf while he was sitting next to Katee and voila - a million shipper hearts break open across multiple time zones.

I also really liked Lee's hair in The Son Also Rises. Short hair and sharp suit? RAWR, yes please.

dipsas that Jamie Bamber really doesn't do much for me as Apollo - his hair's too short, and he's too pretty and neat. But once he grows his hair and gets into civvies and suits, OMG!

I just think the longer hair relaxes his features a little and makes him look not quite so perfect (and therefore more attractive). Especially when he lets it get messy (sorry this one's a little dark):

I think Kara can carry off pretty much any hairstyle, because she's just so naturally pretty in an unassuming kind of way. But I do love her here - I think this was in the little ponytail phase?

Absolutely! I had a blood-spattered pic somewhere, but somehow it didn't make it into my original comment. Hmm.

I have borne the heavy cross that comes with Presidential!hair love for many moons now. Think not of the hatas, for it is some truly marvelous hair (except for maybe Daybreak-- b/c that's where's windswept turned into a frakking hurricane, but I digress.) But no, rest assured, there is a lotta love out there for the longer hair. People just have to be comfortable being honest about their feelings.

I loved Presidential Hair. I really wanted Kara to grab hold of it during the mutiny while she kissed Lee. Too bad Skulls & Racetrack didn't handcuff Lee. Then Kara could have rescued him & immediately fulfilled a mild bondage fantasy in the dry (but not for long - teehee) stowage closet, yanking Lee's lips to hers via the sexy long presidential hair prior to releasing him from the cuffs. Mm, when's the next PornBattle?

Yep. I'm for realz. It was terrible and kinda of nuts and choppy and homemade-looking and off-kilter and ... kind of adorable. It just worked for me.
