DPP: Good Day Friendlies
I’ve noticed a few new faces, er you know what I mean, posting here at
no_takebacks so I thought it was time for a quick friending/introduction meme. So here goes:
Name/Callsign:
Age/Location (if you want):
When did you know Kara&Lee were you ship?
Favorite other character(s):
Favorite episodes/scenes:
Next best ship:
Favorite book, movie and song:
Anything else you'd like to share?
I would also like to introduce my co-host for the Pigeon. I don’t know how I missed him during
taragel recent things that will always be linked to BSG post because I cannot take pigeons seriously anymore. As it turns out, as the mother of small children, I end smirking a lot at the Pigeon stories of Mo Willems because he’s kind of a super annoying pigeon who wants to drive a bus and eat hotdogs and such.

Age/Location (if you want):29/London
When did you know Kara&Lee were you ship? I wish I could tell you there was a episode, if anything the Mini-series would be the place - the brig scene. The chemistry was there.
Favorite other character(s): Helo
Favorite episodes/scenes: Mini series, UBEX, Razor, Scar
Next best ship: on BSG Helo/Sharon (I loved the fact that she was an unknown, but because Helo had a faith in her so did the viewer.)
Favorite book, movie and song:Favourite book "Contact" by Carl Sagan (half story of humanities reaction to the idea of someone else in the universe, and half science lesson in a non boring/preachy way). Favourite Movie: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1952) Favourite Song: this changes too much for there to be one favorite at the moment
Anything else you'd like to share? would someone like to tell my cat that her chocolate addiction is toxic to her??

re: the cat and the chocolate
Try white chocolate or milk chocolate. Don't ever let her have semi-sweet (usually what choc chips are made of), dark choc, or bakers' choc.
Also chocolate baked goods (like a finger pinch of chocolate cake) may appease her...and the amount of chocolate ingested is diluted a bit by the other cake ingredients.
In small amounts, milk chocolate or white chocolate is likely just to cause diarrhea, hyperactivity, and/or GI upset from the fat content.
(We worry most about the theobromine and caffeine for true (cardiac, neuro) toxicities...the theobromine is MUCH higher in the darker chocolates. Next we worry about the fat content since that can cause mild to severe GI issues (mild stomach upset to evil pancreatitis).
My cats say to tell her there are so many other things to nibble...from the expected (meats, cheese) to the odd (watermelon, bread)...to choose something new and avoid the chocolate. ;)

While I'm here...
Name/Callsign: Liz/Trooper
Age/Location: 32/sometimes I'm not sure
K/L: I suppose the mini...as soon as I saw their fireworks, banter, and brilliance, I was hooked...although my Kara love did help push K/L forward from initial shipping into crazy OTP land.
Other faves: Tigh, Kendra, Helo (more in fanon than canon)
Fave epis/scenes: UBEX, anything K/L (except Maelstrom...I don't even care about Under the Wing, the whole episode makes me stabby), Razor, Final Cut, 33
No other super special ships
Way too many fave books, movies, songs
Anything else? Yeah, can I be a cylon? I am so far behind on fandom things...commitments to various other shippers included. :( I'd really benefit from an extra few copies.

You rock in so many ways I can't even count them. Thank you for the advice!

would someone like to tell my cat that her chocolate addiction is toxic to her??
Oh my German Shepard has been gone two years next month, but I will never forget the chocolate story. She suddenly started to do this separation anxiety thing and she would steal stuff when I was gone. One day I came home and was surprised to find this white jar lid on the floor. I couldn't figure it out until I turned around and was horrified to find an empty, licked clean, Nutella jar on the floor. She had taken it off the back of the kitchen counter.
I'm still not sure how she opened the thing. All I can think of was she held the jar between her paws and twisted the lid off by holding it with her teeth. There were not any noticeable teeth marks on the thing though. I panicked and called the animal emergency number right away. Thankfully the jar was only about 1/4 to 1/3 full, and because she's a big enough she had no ill effects at all.
This was in contrast to a medication she was taking that, another time, almost killed her, and kept her hospitalized for four days. That time she went from me, in hindsight, barely noticing she was a little sluggish first thing in the morning to the vet having to scoop her up off the waiting room floor because she could not get up herself by 7:30 pm.
She'd been at the vet's that morning for a regular check-up where I picked up her regular meds (which thankfully were still in the car when I brought her to the different clinic's emergency). I then dropped her off for a bath while I went off to a business appointment. When I picked her up around 5 PM they asked me if she had hurt herself because she seemed to have more trouble getting into the tub than was normal.
I took her home and we went for a walk. About halfway through that she was having noticeable difficulty staying upright on her feet, at some points sliding along her stomach on the ground. I was barely able to get her to the top of the stairs by holding her up by her harness, and called the vet emergency. The vet told me to bring her in about an hour because he had another patient. She had difficulty getting in and out of the car and then the vet had to carry her back to the examination room.
Vet looked at all of her meds and called animal poison control. He was thinking it was a fairly new med she was on, but they went with one she had been taking more long term. I was told she was in even worse shape the next day, and some of the vet techs told me she was like a different dog once she was well again. All very scary.
Another thing to be aware of is grapes/raisins. I had no idea about this for the longest time and would often share green seedless grapess with her (dog was an omnivore who ate any fruit/veggie I gave her except over-ripe banana and tomato). She usually had about 10 of the things at a time. I think I just happened to stumble on the internet article about this danger.
Didn't really do much with her journal but you can see her at Pegan's Place (http://pegans-place.insanejournal.com/).

That's your job. No opposable thumbs, no easy access to chocolate.
