Because there's no takebacks...

Do you miss pilots? Do you miss their legendary eye-frakking, bantery, bickering and general awesomeness? Do you want to forget Pigeons of Doom, near-fraks on the table and poofings? Your shippy heart needs to be mended after the BSG finale? Or maybe you were satisfied with Kara and Lee’s ending but you are a pilots junkie in desperate need of your K/L fix? If your answer to any of those questions is a loud yes, you’ve found the right place ;)

Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] no_takebacks ! This is a re-watching community for the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. BUT from a different perspective. And what does make us different?, you may wonder. Well, this is a piloty and shippy rewatch, which means that our main interest from now on will be the lyrically epic, gloriously frakked-up and undeniably hot romance between our favorite hotshot viper pilots, Kara and Lee, Starbuck and Apollo. Needless to say, if you don’t like the pairing that’s definitely not the site you are looking for…

We will be featuring one episode per week including all sort of piloty and shippy stuff. And we want to encourage your participation: thinky meta, thought-provoking discussions, picspams, hair reports and all kind of pilotician goodness will be welcome!

The episode of the week will kickoff with a discussion post on Saturday (for more details, check out our schedule below). And once this post is up all members will be welcome to make episode-related postings throughout the week. We intend the discussion post to be of the meta-ish and “serious” variety, but that will be subject to change depending on our feelings towards the episodeI mean, really, do we need deep thoughts about "Final Cut" and the Apollo-in-a-tiny-towel-while-Kara-is-ogling-his-glorious-ass scene?I vote, er, no ;). Of course, participation is completely voluntary, but we'd love to have your contribution… So if you simply drop in and comment now and then or post lengthy metas every episode, it’s up to you. The more, the merrier… And anything will be muchly appreciated!!!

Our discussions will begin on July 4th and we provisionally plan to go through the first two seasons. As we are not sure if you will be willing–and psychologically prepared–to cross the line of S3, we have decided to leave this issue for later on... So when the right time comes, we’ll take a poll to discuss this topic. On a personal note, though, I’d love to discuss “Unfinished Business”... It is my all time BSG favorite episode and I can’t conceive pilots without it. But S3 is far away, so let’s see how the rewatch goes...

The schedule of episodes is listed under the cut tag (and will be updated in its due time, of course).

imperfectly beautiful, yet beautifully perfect relationship.

Dammit. I'm going to miss Water (eh, not really on my favorites), Bastille Day (DAMMIT, I LOVE THAT EP), and AoC (*whispers* I'm not too big a fan of this one either *runs*), so I'll be joining those convo's late. I'm in Europe at that time and will have no access to my DVDs or the internet. D:

As for watching S3? I vote a big fat NO. I refuse to watch Kara/Sam or Lee/Dee or the Quad of Doom or the stupidity of killing off Kara. Although I will miss the last three episodes. Oh well.

I was bored and went to see if you'd update your journal (because I'm too lazy to just look at my flist) and saw the thing about the rewatch. And then I remembered I was going to be gone in the middle of it and was worried about what eps I was going to miss. So I popped in the name of this comm to see the schedule.

Why? Am I not supposed to be here? I guess it's like Tara said, I show up where you least expect. ;P

As for Europe, I will be going to Paris, Amsterdam, and Belgium as part of a summer program thingy.

I can't really explain why I don't like AoC. It just doesn't sit well with me and I haven't watched it since before S2.5 because of my dislike for it. I know it's all Kara-centric, but... Gah, I don't know. Maybe by the time I return from Europe I'll be able to elaborate.

And hey! Don't you go dissing Emo!Lee! He's just misunderstood and very sensitive. (I feel sorry for Pilots' son, inheriting those traits. Poor thing.)

The QoD is like a certain questionable food product called SPAM. You will hear more on this when I post the pilots essay. :D

And I don't want to rewatch UB or UBEX because it just makes me furious with Kara and makes me want to throw pointy objects at her. And I don't think that would be a welcome reaction. All the hardcore Kara girls would murder me.

Heh. Me too. I randomly post, but I'm more interested in others' posts. Then there's the fact that I suffer from the disease Average Boring Life Syndrome. Trufax.

I love my lurker streak as well. I am the queen of all of lurkerdom. ;)

Aw, thanks for the congratulations! It was much easier than I thought it would be to hit (and go beyond \o/) my goal. I am still awaiting official recognition of all my epic commentaries. *pokes Bee and Tara* ;P

Yeah, I guess I should rewatch, but it's just - *sigh* I don't want to rewatch that episode. And it's hard to get me to rewatch something if I don't want to. As for my darling Leemo, sweetie, I was joking. ;D I get fed up with it sometimes too. And ugh, the hallway scene in TaB... DO NOT WANT.

My pilots essay is fighting me! Okay, not really, I'm just being lazy and not working on it. I'm really hoping I can finish and post it before the rewatch. Or at the very least before I go to Europe.

I am in complete agreement with your hubby, girl. I still have trouble understanding why the hell Kara married Anders, and I've read ten different meta posts on UB. Grrr. I don't know if I'll ever get over how badly she fumbled their relationship.

(To be fair, Lee's done his fair share of fumbling too. But still.)

Awww, sleep well, bb! :)

Hee! But I LOVE the Quad. That's my favorite unpopular opinion - the fact that Lee and Kara act like such awful people towards Dee and Sam just encourages my love of their totally being unsuited to be with anyone else.

And "Maelstrom" has some of my favorite Lee/Kara scenes ever - it was one of the few times that I believed Kara really, truly loved Lee.

You know, I kind of do too. It's so dark and tortured and tragic I just eat it up with a spoon. And I'll go even further with an unpop opinion and say that I can go toe to toe with season 4 and 4.5 right up until the last two hours-- the memorial hall scene is where my canon ends.

**sits by myself listening to the chirping crickets**

[identity profile] antismiles.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm... I go back and forth on the QoD. On the one hand, like you said, it's tortured and tragic and gave us EoJ. And being an angstwhore I love that. On the other hand, I was uncomfortable with the fact that they were cheating on their spouses. I wanted them to make clean breaks with Sam and Dee. *sigh* I'm much more eloquent about this in the essay.

And yeah, you're all alone with S4 and 4.5. My canon probably ends somewhere in S2.5. I still haven't decided. Of course, if we're making up our own endings, I've always said I pretend that the series ended with a different version of The Passage: they all starved to death because they couldn't get through the cluster and there was no food on the planet, and those who didn't want to starve committed suicide.

So I'm a tad dark sometimes. I would rather have seen that than what we got.

[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
A tad dark?

That's like Act V of Hamlet you've got going on right there. Wow. You must have seriously hated the ending (like with the fire of a thousand suns kind of hatred...) *g*
