DPP: Free for All Friday!

Got any burning questions.

Looking for a specific fic that you read like a million years ago, or last week, but forgot to bookmark.

Need recs for a specific genre of fic, babies, finale fix, etc.

Well, this is you’re day. Ask and (theoretically) someone will come by with the answer!

Now go!

Somebody bring me some water!

Here's my burning question:

How do I get that piloty lovin' feeling back? I thought I was just going through a slump, but this slump is turning into a drought in no short order.

Maybe it's just the lifecycle of fandom playing itself out. Maybe it's other distractions, I dunno. But at the very least, I'd like to get enough mojo back to finish a story or two. Right now, my fandom business just feels unfinished. And it's all very sadmaking.

Oh wise fangirls, what to do?

I haven't reached that point yet so I don't know. Off the top of my head, I'd say a marathon of all the must-see shippy episodes followed by a marathon of truly amazing fics (all of Kag's, for instance - and that is a lot to read...lol) might help.

I'll be sending shippy vibes your way, too. :)

I'm having a little mini marathon right now with my favorite shippy episodes and it definitely helps when you run into a little slump ;)

I would read some Lee Kara smut and some epic love stories of theirs to reignite yourself.

I dunno...but pass the answer over this way when you get it.

...although I still have K/L moments...so maybe it's just other distractions??...I hope...

It sucks b/c I still love all of you but I often just have nothing exciting to say. (btw, I will call/write ya, I am just a dreadfully bad correspondent in good times and crazy times exacerbates the problem)

I will say that wandering into other parts of fandom (12C, bsgkink) has helped a little bit...b/c of course I still love pilots more than anyone else (although Tigh, Kendra, Leoben are nice secondary interests)

♥ ya!!

I'd just like to send a big hug to our amazing host this week . This has been a rather busy week for me and I haven't been around to comment, but it has been a very successful week. So, congrats, Kdbleu!!!!!

*HUGS*

Here's a random topic: I watch BSG with my husband, who in many ways tends to have similar tastes to myself. He also loves the show. But it's interesting to me to see the ways his reactions differ from mine. The main example is that he's not particularly attached to Lee. He thinks he's fine, as a character, but nowhere close to a personal favorite. His favorite characters are Kara and Tigh, and while he's not particularly invested in any romantic relationship, he sort of roots for Kara/Sam and wanted the two of them to work things out. He loathes Roslin, and for that reason loathes Adama/Roslin, whereas I have more sympathy for both.

Do any of you watch BSG with someone else among your family and friends? Do they surprise you with the things they love about the show and the things they don't?

I watched some of Season 1 with my dad and he always preferred the original BSG. He bought up a point that the old show was really focused on the partnership of Apollo and Starbuck and was more of a guy's POV. He missed that there was no buddy relationship, except really between Adama and Tigh. And in the later seasons I think Lee could've really used a friend like Kara had Helo.

great question. no, i don't. i'm bugging my family to watch the series but my succes is limited until now. but i have a friend that is also a fan and who is insisting that he sees a lot of Kara in me (even started to call me Starbuck giving our professors headaches) while i always identified with Lee. and maybe to some extent to other characters but never with Kara. i don't know if that answers your question in any way but you made me think of this and decided to mention it.

My father and sister also watched BSG, and neither had any interest in shipping. My sister thinks Lee is boring and though she thinks Kara is a great character, doesn't understand how I could possibly fangirl her as much as I do (she was scandalized that I voted for Kara over Buffy in the march madness thing). My dad just doesn't really care either way about the interpersonal relationships. He referred to Kara and Lee one time as "Starbuck and Whatshisface." We do agree on Adama though (we don't like him).

Does anyone have a link to the deleted scene from Scar where they hold the pilots auction? Or a transcript of the deleted scene. Either would be useful. I know the scene is on the DVDs, but I am tragically separated from mine right now.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for. :)

I find re-reading Pi's stuff (http://community.livejournal.com/pi_pieces/) is always a nice pick me up. I especially like bar!fic (http://community.livejournal.com/pi_pieces/tag/bar) and she's still adding to her holiday series (http://community.livejournal.com/pi_pieces/tag/holiday) on a regular basis.

I have a fic question :)

[identity profile] givsgr8face.livejournal.com 2011-03-20 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
It was't something I read ages and ages ago, but I'm trying to find a story ( I can't remember the author) that sort of changes the roles for Kara and Lee. Instead of Kara going back to Caprica for the Arrow of Apollo, Lee jumps back in a Rapter at the start of the attacks after Roslin asks him to look for other survivors for the fleet. Everyone thinks he's dead, but he basically shares Helo and Sharon's arc, until Kara eventually travels back to Caprica for the Arrow and finds him bearded and malnourished, but alive. They all find Sam and the Resistance and while they're all staying at the high School, Kara and Lee's relationship is pretty much forged and they begin their love affair. The usuals make it back to Galactica, Lee gets his assignment but tries to talk his father and the President into a rescue mission for the Caprica fighters. He keeps getting assignments to distract him from planning the rescue (and he knows this) but eventually he and Kara work it out and so the story goes.

I hope that makes sense! It was really good, I'd like to read it again!! Any help would be AWESOME!!

I know that story. Great one. But I seem to be unable to find it today

I think it's Apotheosis by Jason Thompson on fanfiction.net.
